PCS
Lowering Kit

after
lowering 1-1/2"
WHY? I
like the low look for a cruiser, and I like the fact that the kit
from PCS (Pacific Coast Star)
is 4-way adjustable. I only ride solo and I only weigh 185 with my
boots on, so I don't have to worry much about bottoming out the
suspension. This kit allows you to choose from stock height, 3/4"
lower, 1-1/2" lower, and 2-1/4" lower.
SERVICE. Really
good. I logged onto their web site and drooled over all of their
goodies for the Star bikes. They gave a good, clear description of
the item and it was easy to place an order online. I had occasion to
call the shop, and found that the folks there were easy to contact
and great to deal with. These are bikers who make parts for bikers.
My kit arrived four days later vis UPS.
INSTALLATION.
Instructions were clear and easy to understand. I believe that this
kit could be installed by the average mechanic, but it's not for the
faint of heart because the bike has to be jacked up and placed on
blocks. I used an automotive floor jack and some wood blocks to get
the bike into the air and went to work. Working carefully the job
took me less than 30 minutes. Now that I'm familiar with the process
I believe that I could change the setting in 10-15 minutes. All parts
were supplied and everything fit well.
RESULTS. Really
nice. I decided to set the kit up to lower the bike 1-1/2". I
like the low look, but it's not so low that I high-center while
riding over speed bumps. I rode over some rough spots and didn't
bottom out the suspension, and handling didn't seem to be adversely
affected. Seat height is a bit lower, but at 6' that was never a
problem for me.
Worth the money?
Absolutely. For $49, it's hard to beat this mod. I like the look, and
now I can adjust the suspension to 4 different heights. Looks like a
bargain to me! |
